We will choose SBP as the response. The two variables QUET and SMK will be considered.

a. Define a single multiple regression model (Hint: you need put these two variables and also don’t forget the interaction).

b. Using SAS to estimate this model; Write out the regression lines for smokers and nonsmokers. Are there any differences with the previous two lines from question 2?

c. Does the effect of QUET on the SBY depend on the status of smoking? You need to write the hypotheses, report SAS output and show your conclusion.

d. Assuming that the interaction is not significant, for every QUET, does the smoking status will cause any difference in SBY? Set up appropriate hypotheses and report your conclusion.

e. Applying residuals analysis to see any possible pitfalls for the model.

The data (bloodpressure) (first column is ID) gives the systolic blood pressure (SBP), body size (QUET), age and smoking history (SMK=0 if nonsmoker, SMK=1 if smoker) for a hypothetical sample of 32 white males over 40 years old from the town of Angina. In the problem, we will choose SBP as the response. The two variables QUET and SMK will be considered. Answer the following questions about the separate straight-line regression of SBP on QUET for smokers (SMK=1) and nonsmoker...

The file P17_05.xlsx contains data on 100 consumers who drink beer. Some of them prefer light beer, and others prefer regular beer. A major beer producer believes that the following variables might be useful in discriminating between these two groups: gender, marital status, annual income level, and age. b. Consider a new customer: male, married, income $42,000, age 47. Use the logistic regression equation to estimate the probability that this customer prefers Regular. How would you classify this person? Individual...
