Answer #1

You have not produced the Excel data, but I can tell you how to do questions (a) and (b).

a) I'm guessing that Type of Bus Manufacturer is a separate column. To sort the data by type of Bus Manufacturer, select the entire data, click on Data, select Sort and a dialog box will appear. In the drop-list for Sort By, select Type of Bus Manufacturer and your data is sorted!

To calculate Average Cost, click on the cell where you want to show the average. Type "=AVERAGE(number1,number2,....)". After inserting the opening bracket, you just need to select the values of cost the paticular type of manufacturer. You can repeat this for all kinds of manufacturers.

To calculate Standard Deviation of Maintenance, use the formula "=STDEV.P(values)". The values would be the Maintenance of each Type of Bus Manufacturer.

b) Use the same steps used in (a). Just tweak the values according to the question.

MTH 241 COMMON DATA ANALYSIS ASSIGNMENT (Fall 2018) Previous studies have shown that urban bus drivers have an extremely stressful job, and a large proportion of drivers retire prematurely with disabilities due to occupational stress. These stresses come from a combination of physical and social sources such as traffic congestion, incessant time pressure, and unruly passengers. In the paper, “Hassles on the Job: A Study of a Job Intervention with Urban Bus Drivers” (Journal of Organizational Behavior, Vol. 20, pp....

The assignment is: Next, in SPSS, run frequency distributions for each of the categorical variables and descriptive statistics for each of the continuous variables. Consider also creating a graph or chart in SPSS to describe these distributions. For variables that have very small frequencies in at least one category (e.g., less than 7 people in a category), think about combining that category with another if it makes conceptual sense (i.e., there are very few Native Americans, does it make sense...
