Question

Explain the difference between a point estimator and a point estimate.

Explain the difference between a point estimator and a point estimate.

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Point estimator : it is a statistic that provide an estimate of population parameter.

For example : sample mean ( ) is a point estimator of population mean or sample proportion is a point estimator of population proportion P

Point estimate : the value of that statistic ( or point estimator ) from a sample is called as point estimate.

For example : if sample mean of exam scores of sample of 30 students is 60.8

So in this case point estimate for population mean score is 60.8
