  1. Assume that you are comparing the mortality risk of oncology patients with three different cancers, Breast, Colon, and Pancreas. You would like to demonstrate that these cancers do not all have the same morality risks. State the null and alternative hypotheses.
  2. When do we use post hoc tests? What does a post hoc test do that ANOVA does not?

Answer #1

Null hypothesis ,H0 : There is no significant difference in the mortality risk due to the three types of cancer (ie)

Alternative Hypothesis,H1 : There is significant difference in the mortality risk due to the three types of cancer (ie)

When the null hypothesis is rejected , we use Post hoc test

When there are more than 2 treatments ,

The advantage of Post hoc over ANOVA is that post hoc test tests for the significance of a pair of trratments that ANOVA can't do

ANOVA tests for the significant effect by all the treatments only.
