(ii) Imagine you were shown prior student feedback on the course and one comment was “I am doing Business major X, why do I have to do a statistics course? It is not relevant”. Unfortunately, you do not know which major, X the student was referring to. Select the number of Business Majors at RMIT equal to the number of people in your group and illustrate an example of a simple or multiple regression model relevant to each of the selected majors. Explain and interpret the relevance of the regression model to the discipline major.

No data- just a model. Decide on a discipline/major -then think of a dependent variable relevant to that discipline. Then think of a set of variables that are theoretically determine your Y variable. That gives you your multiple regression model.

Answer #1

The decided major could be Marketing.

The dependent variable would be Revenue.

The independent variables will be the amount spend on advertising, the number of clicks on the ad, type of display of the ad, impressions, transactions, click-through rate, and conversion rate.

Hence, the model can be written as:

Revenue = Intercept + Beta1*amount spend on advertising + Beta2*number of clicks on the ad + Beta3*type of display of the ad + Beta4*impressions + Beta5*transactions + Beta6*click through rate + Beta7*conversion rate

Note: If you have more majors then the model will be created in the same way.

If you have more questions you can send them to us and we will try our best to help you out.

Good luck with your studies!!!

9.47  DFW rates. One measure of student success for colleges and universities is the percent of admitted students who graduate. Studies indicate that a key issue in retaining students is their performance in so-called gateway courses. These are courses that serve as prerequisites for other key courses that are essential for student success. One measure of student performance in these courses is the DFW rate, the percent of students who receive grades of D, F, or W (withdraw). A major...

Data Set Preparation (Using A JMP Folder) Can email you if comment your email. 1. (10 pts.) Using the “Toyota Corolla” data set on Canvas (Home à “JMP” à “(Under: JMP Data Sets folder)”, you will be modeling the “Price” of a car as the dependent variable (Y). Please select one independent variable (X) you think may help explain Price, from the following three: “Age”, “Mileage”, or “Weight” of a car. In the space below, state your choice and explain...

1.) You are interested in predicting the final grade of students in a business course. You collect data on the number of hours studied and final grade for 8 students. Using the data provided below, find the predicted linear regression equation. Do this long hand on notebook paper.  You must show all of your calculations. Take calculations out to the 4th decimal place. Do not round up or round down. Your answers must clearly show your answers for bo, b1, and...

One of your friends, who is a pre-med student, tells you that females will weigh less for a given height. To test this hypothesis, you collect height and weight of 29 female and 81 male students at your university. A regression of the weight on a constant, height, and a binary variable, which takes a value of one for females and is zero otherwise, yields the following result:Studentw = –229.21 – 6.36 Female + 5.58 Height , R2=0.50, SER =...

As you saw from the lab PowerPoint slides last week, you will be doing a research study looking at ‘Aggression Priming” for your first paper. For this week’s discussion, I want you to discuss with your group what you think this study is about. What is the hypothesis? What theory does it come from? What do you predict will happen (do you expect something different than the hypothesis in the researcher instructions? If so, what and why?)? Do you think...
