Determine whether or not the given procedure results in a binomial distribution. If not, identify which condition is not met. Spinning an American roulette wheel 77 times and recording the number the ball lands on.

Homework Answers

Answer #1

conditions for binomial distribution is that

1)there should be only two outcomes , one is success and other is failure.

2) there is fixed number of trials

3) trials are independent of each other

4)probability of success in each trial is same.

----------

but here, American roulette wheel has more than 2 outcomes which violates the conditions for binomial distribution.

All other conditions are satisfied.

So, Binomial distribution cannot be applied here,
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

if we keep track of winning numbers, the ball lands on, then only, it can be binomially distributed.
