(5) You wondered if HUNGER led to a difference in CONFIDENCE for your students. You make your students eat “No Food” “Some Food” “All The Food” and separate them into groups based on this. (a) Define each variable. Is it a DEPENDENT VARIABLE or an INDEPENDENT variable? (b) Would this question have a between-subjects or within-subjects design? (c) Is this a one-tailed or two-tailed test?

Answer #1

As we want to see that the HUNGER led to a difference in Confidence for the students and we distribute students in three category ,then this design include the study under ANOVA because we have three groups ( or say three treatment ).So,

And(a) The variables Not food, Some food, All the food are the independent variable and the HUNGER is based on these Variables so the HUNGER is dependent variables.

Ans(b) Yes this question have a between subject or within subjects design bacause this study included under the study of ANOVA (i.e. this study is based on the ANOVA).

Ans(c) This is a two tailed test because the alternative hypothesis in this study is that at least two groups differ significantly.

The levels of the independent variable and how you set them/will manipulate them. 3. The dependent variable and how you will measure it.

agree or not? Question 1: what is a one-way analysis of variance used for (Section 12-2)? One-way ANOVA (Analysis of Variance), is a statistical test that compares the variance in the group means within a sample while considering only one independent variable or factor. The hypothesis based test that is aimed to evaluate multiple mutually exclusive theories about data. In a one-way ANOVA there will be two different hypotheses. Meaning a test is done with two groups to see whether...
