Test the hypothesis using the P-value approach. Be sure to verify the requirements of the test. Upper H 0 : p equals 0.88 versus Upper H 1 : p not equals 0.88 n equals 500 comma x equals 430 comma alpha equals 0.1

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Solution :

This is the two tailed test .

The null and alternative hypothesis is

H0 : p = 0.88

Ha : p 0.88

= x / n = 430 / 500 = 0.860

Test statistic = z

= - P0 / [P0 * (1 - P0 ) / n]

= 0.86 - 0.88/ [(0.88 * 0.12) / 500]

= -1.376

P(z < -1.38) = 0.0838

P-value = 0.1676
