What is the 1 2 3 rule in statistics related to a normal curve

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Solution:

Empirical rules in statistic related to normal curve is known as 1,2,3 rule in statistic related to normal curve.

Rule 1 tells us that 68% data will fall or area covered under normal curve within a standard deviation of the mean

(Mean +/- Standard deviation) will contain 68% of data or area covered under the normal curve

Rule 2 tells us that 95%data will fall or area covered under the normal curve within two standard deviation of the mean

I.e. (Mean+/- 2×Standard deviation) will contain 95% of data or area covered under the normal curve.

While third rule says that 99.7% of data will fall or area covered under the normal curve within 3 standard deviation from the mean.

I.e. (Mean+/-3×Standard deviation) will contain 99.7% of data or area covered under the normal curve.
