Answer #1

we will perform Spearman's Rank correlation for no tie case:

calculations:

Now Spearman's Rank correlation is

here, n=10

and from the above table:

r=0.733=the sample correlation

r2=0.537289

Correlation test:H0:=0 ag. H1:

is the population correlation.

the test statistics is

T is distributed as t distribution with degrees of freedom (n-2)=(10-2)=8

r=0.733

n=10

T=3.0508

tabulated value of t at level with df 8 is

t0.05;8=1.860

As T>t0.05;8 or, the test statistic is greater than the tabulated value at level 0.05 So we can reject the null hypothesis and can conclude that Taste is positively related to cost.

In this case, Armand's Pizza Parlors is a chain of Italian-food restaurants located in five-state area. Their most sucessful locations are the ones near college campuses. The null hypothesis is that the managers believe that quarterly sales for these restaurants (y) are related positively to the size of the student population (x). Thus, the restaurants that are near college campuses with a larger student population tend to generate more sales than the restuarants near campuses with a small student population....

Kuya conducted a taste-test study of tofu. He gathered 20 of his friends and took them to various tofu dinners on three Sundays. Firstly, a Chinese tofu dinner. He then asked his friends to rate how much they enjoyed the tofu (from 1 to 10 with 1 = hate it, and 10 = love it). The following Sunday, they went for a Thai tofu dinner and collected their ratings. On the third Sunday, he took these (lucky?) friends to a...
