Provide an appropriate response. In a χ2 test of independence, the null hypothesis is that
The Chi-Square test of independence is used to determine if there is a significant relationship between two categorical variables.
Since it is a test for independence , the hypothesis will be in regard of the independency or dependency. Here the null hypothesis for this test is that there is no relationship exists on the categorical variables in the population; they are independent.
ie., null hypothesis H0: The variables are independent
alternative hypothesis , H1: They are dependent , (the variables are not independent)
