What is your opinion about charter schools lottery system? You might have heard about charter school and its admission system. For admission, they run computer based lottery program. According to that lottery number you will get admission in that school.

Charter schools are public schools.They provide a space for innovation and educational opportunity in low-income communities.

A charter school has spots for which it recieves applications from students interested in enrollment, when a charter school recieves more students than it has spots,a lottery is held to determine which students will have the opportunity to enroll and attend, remaining applications who don't get a spot are automatically added to the waiting list.

Charter schools recieve a huge number of applications per year.

Hence, holding a lottery is a fair way to determine which student will get a spot. It reflects the diversity of the communities they serve as they do not admit students based on test scores, essays, interviews, auditions, etc. Also, they do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex or nation origin.

The lottery system gives every applicant a fair chance of getting admitted. Studies have also shown that students from charter school perform better than students from other public schools. They provide an equal opportunity to students coming from different social backgrounds.

Hence, in my opinion, the charter schools lottery system is a fair way of getting students admitted in the charter schools and providing adequate and quality education to all.
