Homework Answers

Answer #1

Number of large marbles = 19

Number of small marbles = 10

Number of green large marbles = 8

Number of white large marbles = 19-8 = 11

Number of small white marbles = 4

Number of small green marbles= 6

P(Small ) = 10/29

P(White marbles) = (11+4)/29 = 15/29

P(small and white marbles) = 4/29

Therefore , the the probability that it is small or white is

P(Small or white ) = P(Small marble) +P(white marble) - P(small and white marble) = (10+15-4)/29 =21/29= 0.7241

Answer: the probability that it is small or white is 0.7241
