The Alfred hospital receives many overseas patients who travel to Australia for medical treatment. A number of these patients don’t speak English and may have trouble interacting with hospital staff. The hospital would like to understand the satisfaction of these overseas customers with their in-patient experience by recruiting 200 previous patients to answer a survey.

Propose a sampling plan. This should include the target population, an appropriate sampling frame (list or set of instructions to reach the target population), survey method and sampling technique (Hint: Think of the appropriate probability or non-probability sampling techniques appropriate for the scenario). Sample sizes are already provided. Provide a brief explanation for why the proposed sampling plan is appropriate.

Answer #1

The Proposed sampling technique would be stratified sampling and sampling frame would be the proportion of patient from different countries who are travelling to australia for medical treatment.

The pupils for each countries would be:

Population Proportion =(Pupil from a country who came for medical) / (total population came for medical)

sample taken for each countries= (population proportion for each country) x (total sample size)

Once we have size for each sample then we can analysis how many percentage of pupil who does not know English and how they can be treated well . If the proportion sample quit high then the Medical team must include a native language speaker in thier staff.
