What additional information is obtained by measuring two individuals on an interval scale compared to an ordinal scale?
(a) Whether the measurement is numerical
(b) The size of the difference
(c) The direction of the difference
(d) Whether the measurements are the same of different
b)the size of difference..
consider the variable temperature (celcius or farenhite)
if we group them by category say 10-20, 20-25 etc we wiip get a ordinap variable.
if we take the actual values wr will get interval scale variable.
in 1st case an obs fallen into 1st category is less than that of fallen into 2nd that much we can tell but how less we can say particularly..while in 2nd case we can measure the difference by taking the absolute difference of those two obs and say 2nd one is that much higher than 1st one
