The independent variable here is the taking of cannabis and ecstacy whereas the dependent variable is abstract thinking.

This is an experimental study, an experimental study is where you have a control group and a testable group. Here, we do have a control group who haven't been fed the cannabis(non-users) and a testable group, who has been fed up with the cannabis and ecstacy.

The research question is "Does cannabis and ecstacy affect the abstract thinking?".
