62% of jazz musicians play the trumpet, 27% play the saxophone, and 16% play both the trumpet and the saxophone. What is the probability that a jazz musician plays either the trumpet or the saxophone, but not both?

Answer #1

P(jazz musician plays either the trumpet or the saxophone, but not both) = P(jazz musicians play the trumpet) + P(jazz musicians play the saxophone) - 2 * P(jazz musicians play both)

                                                       = 0.62 + 0.27 - 2 * 0.16

                                                       = 0.57 (ans)
