Answer #1

Collecting data from each and every member of a large population is not practical and it increases the expenditure of the study also. In such situations we can go for sampling. Sample population should represent the diversity of the large population. Even if we are having a large quantity of sampling, if the sample is not representing the population, then the data collected will not represent the large population. This will lead to errors. So the quality of sampling (like: Bias, dispersion and non reproducibility) is very much important. "Quality trumps quantity". Open ended questions are the question which is not having a static answer or yes or no answers. So a wide variety of answers can be expected. This makes the quality of the sample vary important in the case of open ended questions.
