1)here  probability that he will get caught no later than on his third job =P(X<=3) =1-P(did nt get caught on first 3 jobs)

=1-(1-0.24)³ =0.561

2) variance is (1-p)/p² =(1-0.24)/0.24² =13.194

mean =1/p =1/0.24 =4.167

I think ur answers are correct ; u may ask ur co-ordinator to correct the answer as geometric distribution have this formula only
