For a significant ANOVA we have the following: M1 = 16.5 M2 = 11.50 M3 = 8.92 MSwith = 63.44 and dfwith = 60 Conduct a planned contrasts between group 1 and group 2 and determine if it is significant at the .05 level.

Answer #1

For a significant ANOVA we have the following:

M1 = 16.5 M2 = 11.50 M3 = 8.92 MSwith = 63.44 and dfwith = 60

calculation :- fcal = ms/mse ,

fcritical can be find on excel by command => =FINV(probability,df1,df2)

Decision rule :-

i) if F calculated < Fcritical then accept null hypothesis H0 at level of significance 0.05

ii) if F calculated > Fcritical then reject  null hypothesis H0 at level of significance 0.05

Result :-

for group 1- F calculated (0.260088)> Fsignificant(0.051337)

for group 2- F calculated (0.181274)> Fsignificant(0.051337)

then reject null hypothesis H0 at level of significance 0.05

conclusion :- so both group 1 and group 2 are significant at the 0.05level
