Question

when is randomised complete block design appropriate for an experiment?

when is randomised complete block design appropriate for an experiment?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

In this designs, blocks are homogeneous groups of units . In the experimental fields or units, where variation(fertility gradient in agricultural experiments) is in one direction, it makes sense to divide the fields into groups of homogeneous units called blocks. As the name suggests, the block is a complete replicate .That is a block will contain all the treatments .

It is also the design where local control concept is fully applied. So a completely randomized design is appropriate when variation between blocks is more and variation within blocks (homogeneous) is less.

Determine the experimental design (1 mark) Below, the aim of the study is stated, along with the data collected to answer the aim. Select the option that best describes this experimental design. Assume that the only tests of interest are stated in the aim. Assume that the data are analysed without any aggregation (e.g. taking averages) unless stated otherwise. Design an experiment in which two factors are to be investigated, one at two levels and one at three levels. The experiment must run in blocks, with no more than four test runs per block.
