Which test among Kruskal - Wallis test and One way ANOVA would you use in the real world population studies and why?
Both the Kruskal-Wallis test and the One-way ANOVA test compares two or more groups and assesses whether they are collectively similar or not. In case of One-way ANOVA test, which is a parametric test, it assumes that the distributions of these two or more groups are normal, but this is not in the case of Kruskal-Wallis test, which is a non-parametric test. Also, in the real world population studies, the distribution of the data sets are hardly close to normal, they follow some other types of distributions. Hence, it is not advisable to use the One-way ANOVA test in such a scenario. We would then rely on the Kruskal-Wallis test for our hypotheses-testing.
