The boss at a workplace is decided who to hire and who to fire. Last week, John was late for work 1 out of 16 times and David was late for work 6 out of 16 times. The boss wants to know who is more likely to be late for work? Explain your answer. show all steps.
This question can be solved by using the law of probability. The boss wants to hire the person who is more punctual in work .
John was late for work 1out of 16 times , so his probability for being late is =. 1÷16 = 0.0625
Or he has 6.25% chance of being late.
Now , David was late for 6 out of 16 times, so his probability of being late = 6÷16 = 0.375. Or he has 37.5 % chance of being late .
As per above probability distribution , we can say that David has more chance of being late i.e 37.5%. as compared to John who has only 6.25% chance of being late.
Answer : David is more likely to be late.
