What are three assumptions that underlie the F test?

What are three assumptions that underlie the F test?

Answer #1

Assumptions will be

1. F-test assume that data are normally distributed.

Explanation - Data that differs from normal distribution could be due to some reasons. The data could be skewed or sample size could be to small to reach normal distribution. Regardless the reason F test assume a normal distribution and will results in inaccurate results if the differs significantly from this distribution.

2. F test also assume that data points are independent from one other.

3. Null hypothesis is simply that all the group population group means are same and alternative hypothesis is that atleast one pair of means is different.

( Atleast one pair of means is different.)

These are the 3 major assumptions of F test.

Thankyou.
