I have used minitab to plot the scatterplot of horse age to price where, Price is dependent variable and age of the horse is independent variable.

From scatter plot it is clear that there exist no linear relationship between price and age of the horse.

b). Data is as below :

You can use either excel or minitab to calculate the sample coefficient of correlation.

r = -0.03643, where - value of r represents that slope is negative.

Use CORREL function in excel with both type of array i.e. array 1 = age & array_2 = price.
