The Degrees of Freedom for an F Test is function of:

A. The numbere of data sets

B. The level of confidence

C. The number of Independent Variables

D. All of the above

E. Both A and C above

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Let d1 and d2 denote the degrees of freedom for an F- test.

The degrees of freedom (DF) are the amount of information your data provide that you can "spend" to estimate the values of unknown population parameters, and calculate the variability of these estimates. This value is determined by the number of observations in your sample.

d1 and d2 are functions of no. Of independent variable.and total no. Of points in the data i.e number of data sets.

So, the answer is E. Both A and C above.

T has a t distribution with b degrees of freedom. T2 therefore has an F distribution with 1 and b degreees of freedom. Using the formula for t distribution and transformation theory, find the density function of F=T2. You must start with the complete formula for the t distribution. Be careful as this is not a one to one transformation. Verify that the derived solution is the formula for F distrubtion in the case that a=1. This shows a relation...
