  1. Relative frequency is the number of observations associated with a single value or range of values compared with the total number of observations within all ranges of values. Complete Table 1 and indicate the proportion of women who have had less than 3 children and the proportion of women who have had two or three children in a selected group of 20 women. Answer #1

Formula Reference:

The proportion of women who have had less than 3 children

Frequency for less than 3 children = 4+8+4 = 16

Total number of children = 20

The proportion of women who have had less than 3 children is then 16/20 = 0.80

The proportion of women who have had two or three children in a selected group of 20 women:

2 0r 3 children = 4+2 = 6

so the propotion is 6/20 = 0.30

High-density lipoprotein (HDL) is sometimes called the "good cholesterol" because high values are associated with a lower risk of heart disease. According to the American Heart Association, people over the age of 20 years should have at least 40 mg/dL of HDL cholesterol. U.S. women aged 20 and over have a mean HDL of 55 mg/dL with a standard deviation of 15.5 mg/dL. Assume that the distribution is Normal. Women with more than 40 mg / dL but less than...
