Answer #1

to find the probability first we need to find the total number of outcomes and total number of favourable outcomes

So

total number of outcomes are

As in total there are 8+4+2=14 animals and she needs to choose 6 of them.

now the favourable outcomes are

2 out of 8 rabbits are selected, 2 out of 4 dogs are selected and 2 out of 2 cats are selected

So the number of favourable outcomes are

Hence the probability is

P(Favourable outcome)=total number of favourable outcomes/total number of outcomes

Hence the probability is 0.05594406.

Applicants to Avocado Conservatory Academy this year included 18 humans, 12 peafowl, 3 dogs, 8 goats and 5 cats. Only ten applicants are accepted each year. If the applicants are randomly selected, what is the probability that exactly two applicants of each species will be accepted. What if no goats were accepted? Would this suggest to you that the admissions process was biased against the goats? Use probability to justify your answer.

If you did a dihybrid cross between two black haired agouti cats, what fraction of the offspring would be expected to have each phenotype? If a dihybrid black agouti cat mated with a brown cat that was heterozygous for the agouti gene, what fraction...
