Explain how to find t.05 (known as the critical value of t for p = .05)...

Explain how to find t.05 (known as the critical value of t for p = .05) for: the one-sample t-test and the matched-pairs t-test.

Answer #1

Suppose sample size is n (say)

The degrees of freedom of one sample t - test is n -1 and Level of significance is alpha = 0.05

The critical value can be chosen at alpha = 0.05 and df = n-1 from t - table

while for matched pairs t - test,

The degrees of freedom of one sample t - test is n -1 and Level of significance is alpha = 0.05

The critical value can be chosen at alpha = 0.05 and df = n-1 from t - table

Finally, the critical value is same for both test i.e. one-sample t- test and matched pairs t- test
