Hypothesis Testing Ideas: Given that you have housing data which consists of Living Area Space, number of bathrooms, number of bedrooms, number of fireplaces and age of the house. What are some interesting hypothesis tests that can be asked?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

we can create many hypothesis tests using following variables, but few interesting hypotheses are given below

Following are the possible 4 hypothesis tests

(1) Is there significant difference between the number of bathroos and number of bedrooms.

(2) test the correlation between number of bathrooms and number of bedrooms.

(3) is there significant correlation between the living area space and age of the houses.

(4) Perform and test the regression analysis for the living area space using dependent variable number of bathrooms, number of bedrooms, age of house and number of fire plaes. Determine which dependent variable is statistically significant.

What experience do you have with hypothesis testing? This can be as simple as you were given an amount of money and had to explain different ways to best utilize the money to make ends meet, to as complicated as a professional issue that needed to be solved. Which testing method—one-sample or two-sample parameter tests—is the better test to use to formulate an answer to a hypothesis? Explain.

Take a moment to reflect on what you have learned in this module about hypothesis testing in general and A/B testing in particular. In what other scenarios or industries do you think this type of analysis would be helpful? What precautions should you take when designing such tests? How can you ensure that your results are representative of your target population?

Imagine you are living in the 1400s and, as most people did then, you live off of the land. You raise cows, sheep, goats, etc., to provide food and clothing. Limited money exchange is available, most commonly in the form of silver and gold coins, though you most often barter for goods using what you could raise, grow, or build. Think of some kind of common activity you might be planning or you might need to do in the course...

Hypothesis testing is the basis of inferential statistics. Statisticians are always coming up with new tests and testing new characteristics of population parameters. One of the simplest tests that currently exist is the one-sample test for means. A random sample is drawn. If the population variance is known, then we use the Z test; if the population variance is unknown, we use the T test. In addition, there are some additional assumptions that can be made. For example, if a...

Choosing a hypothesis test: For each of the following three scenarios, state which hypothesis test you would use from among the four introduced so far: the z test, the single-sample t test, the paired sample t test, and the independent-samples t test. (Note: In the actual of these tests, often because the actual experiment had additional variables.) Explain your answer. A study of 40 children who had survived a brain tumor revealed that the children were more likely to have...

You have been assigned to test the hypothesis that the variability for the number of hours per week that an American works is equal to the variability for the number of hours per week that a Swede works. The following data summarizes the sample statistics for the number of hours worked per week for workers in each country. American Swede Sample standard deviation 5.5 hours 6.2 hours Sample size 17 13 Using alpha?equals=?0.10, what is the conclusion for this hypothesis?...

To study the average price of living spaces in New York City, you collect data on the monthly rent of 30 houses in the city.  You find a sample average rent cost of $565.63 with a standard deviation of $697.61.  Use this information to construct a 99% confidence interval for the true mean rent cost in this area of New York City.  Show all work.  You do notneed to interpret the interval. Hypothesis Testing Answer with daigrams please 7.         A financial services manager has heard that the average number of shares traded daily on the New York Stock Exchange is 500 million. He doesn’t think that average is correct. He has a researcher take a random sample of 40 days and found that the daily average for these days was 506 million. The standard deviation for the sample was 10.3 million. With a level of significance (“α“) of .05, is there enough...

As a think tanker, you are given the task of evaluating the feasibility of building a space city with a simulated gravitational acceleration of g = 9.8 m/s². For a quick evaluation, you consider a donut-shaped space city where the simulated gravitation is created by rotating the city. The general shape of the city is shown in figure below. The space city can be built by linking a large number of modular blocks. As indicated in the figure above, the...
