What descriptive statistics will be used for preliminary data analysis? This is an example of how the answer would look like.

Example 1: Frequency Distribution table (Numerical description) and Bar Chart for the Gender variable (Graphical description) .

Example 2: Mean and Standard Deviation (Numerical description) and the histogram and boxplot (Graphical description) for the Age variable .

I did a research project and my hypothetical statement was the mean stress scores for non-traditional students will be significantly different than the mean for traditional students. I used the Independent T-Test.

Answer #1

Suppose X=Stress Scores for non-traditional students, Y=Stress Scores for traditional students

However we want to mention that before applying this test procedure, we have to test whether the observations are coming from normal distribution or not and this is done by draw qq-plot and Kolmogorov–Smirnov test. Moreover we need to test whether two population variances are equal or not. For this we use Bartlett'e test (under normality assumption) or Levne's test (under any distribution).

If the data are not from normal distribution then we use any non-paramatric test procedure. Among these Two sample Mann-Whitney U-test is best.

*HOW WOULD I SET THIS UP IN A CHI-SQUARE TEST* An example for numerical to categorical data off the top of my head: Light of different color has different wavelengths, but certain ranges of wavelengths qualify as certain shades/hues/tints/etc. You can generalize and say a certain range can be called "blue" or "red". Red is usually attributed to light that has a wavelength between 780 and 622 nanometers, whereas blue light is between 492 and 455 nm. To the average...

MTH 241 COMMON DATA ANALYSIS ASSIGNMENT (Fall 2018) Previous studies have shown that urban bus drivers have an extremely stressful job, and a large proportion of drivers retire prematurely with disabilities due to occupational stress. These stresses come from a combination of physical and social sources such as traffic congestion, incessant time pressure, and unruly passengers. In the paper, “Hassles on the Job: A Study of a Job Intervention with Urban Bus Drivers” (Journal of Organizational Behavior, Vol. 20, pp....

SOME DRAWBACK OF BLACK-SCHOLES Briefly discuss here some difficulties associated with the Black Scholes formula, which is widely used to calculate the price of an option. For example, consider a European call option for a stock. This is the right to buy a specific number of shares of a specific stock on a specific date in the future, at a specific price (the exercise price, also called the strike price). If all these quantities are fixed, the question becomes: what...
