Explain with an example.

Answer #1

Nonprobability sampling designs ought to be preferred to probability sampling designs in some cases like when the researcher wants to conduct a pilot survey or the population of interest is very small. For example, if a researcher wants to conduct a pilot survey to understand whether a new product will be preferred by people or not and secondly if a researcher wants to know the effect of a very rare disease on Blood Pressure then the researcher can only select patients who have symptoms of that disease, therefore, it is not possible to use probability sampling because the population of interest is very small.

Chapter 5, 4e. Sharon Lohr Textbook ver. 2 4 Survey evidence is often introduced in court cases involving trademark violation and employment discrimination. There has been controversy, however, about whether nonprobability samples are acceptable as evidence in litigation. Jacoby and Handlin (1991) selected 26 from a list of 1285 scholarly journals in the social and behavioral sciences. They examined all articles published during 1988 for the selected journals, and recorded (1) the number of articles in the journal that described...

A company that manufactures toothpaste is studying five different package designs. Assuming that one design is just as likely to be selected by a consumer as any other design, what selection probability would you assign to each of the package designs? In an actual experiment, 100 consumers were asked to pick the design they preferred. The following data were obtained. Do the data confirm the belief that one design is just as likely to be selected as another? Explain. Design...
