analysis of variance F test tells us whethere there is any significant difference pair of mean is available or not.

If the analysis of variance F test gave us significant result, then this means that there is at least one pair of means which has significant difference between the means. After getting significant result from analysis of variance F test, then we need follow up test "post hoc test" to determine exactly where the significant difference exists.

We use analysis of variance F test when we need to test for mean difference of 3 or more groups because for mean difference of two groups, we can use t tests.
