  1. A random sample of 181 US cities were investigated in detail concerning their climate conditions and the possible influence this might have had on population change over the period 2000-2018. Based on the climate data collected, the cities were then coded into those that are “cold” and those that are “warm.” Researchers have passed along to you the following attributes, in decimal terms, of the sample data:

      Warm cities                                Cold cities

      Mean growth rate = 0.0511          Mean growth rate = 0.0077

      Standard deviation = 0.0622        Standard deviation = 0.0366

      N= 113                                       N= 68

            Given this summary data, did US cities with warm climates grow significantly faster from 2000-2018 than cities with cold climates? Use an alpha of 0.05. State the null and alternate hypotheses, select the sampling distribution, identify the appropriate critical statistic, compute the test statistic, sketch the critical and observed test statistics, and interpret the findings.
