(7pt) A statistician is hired by a local hospital to investigate whether the distance to the work place has any impact on the number of unauthorized days that nurses are absent from work. The regression equation follows:

Yhat = 12 –1X

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Well Nothing more Information is given other than equation I guess. But I will try to Interpret this equation

Assuming Y is Number of unauthorized days that Nurses are absent and X is Distance.

So Here the slope parameter is -1 which means For a unit increase in Distance Number of Absents decreae by 1.So The more is Distance, less is number of absents. This does not meet with an expected case. It was expected that As Distance increases Absents must Increase but Regression equation does not show such kind of behavior.
