Answer #1

Solution:
Given in the question
In English class
Essays % of your grade = 40% or 0.4
Homework % of your grade = 20% or 0.2
Attendance % of your grade = 5% or 0.05
Final Grade % of your grade = 35% or 0.35
Also Given Essay Average = 89
Homework Average = 94
Attendance Average = 91
Let's assume Final exam Average score is X to get an A -90% in the class, X can be calculated as
90 = Essays % of your grade*Essay Average + Homework % of your grade*Homework Average + Attendance % of your grade*Attendance Average + Final Grade % of your grade*X
90 = 0.4*89 + 0.2*94 + 0.05*91 + 0.35*X
X = (90-35.6-18.8-4.55)/0.35 = 31.05/0.35 = 88.71
So 88.71 score you need on the final projecct to get an A in the class.
