You are required to design a research study. Describe what will be the independent variable and what will be the dependent variables. Tell what you would do to measure those variables and briefly describe the characteristics of the subjects that you will involve in the study. The study aims to explore this topic: What parent actions during students’ teenage years have an impact on college study hours, first-year-first-semester grade point average, and level of substance use in second-semester college freshmen?

Here, the dependent variables will be College study hours, Firt-semester grade point, and level of substance use in second semester college freshmen. WE need to find these based on the varibales they can be dependent upon. Independent variables will be Time given by parents to their children on a daily basis, are both the parents working or not, this will have a value of 1 or 0. 1 for both are working, and 0 otherwise. Another independent variable will be Either they are divorced or not. Fourth independent variable will be do either of the parents do substance use themselves.

In this study we will involve a randomly picked sample data of 50 parents, and take the answer to the independent variables in a survey, or in a personal meeting, survey would be better to collect the data as its less time consuming. Once, we have the data, regression on these data points can be done.
