deviations away from the diagonal present in a normal Q-Q plot indicates a high R2 value, and thus a proper approximation by the multiple libear regresion model

Homework Answers

Answer #1

This statement is not correct. Normal Q-Q plot helps to check the normality assumption. It is a plot of quantiles of normal distribution and quantiles of the distribution of the given data. If both the quantiles collide, the points fall approximately on the diagonal straight line. Thus a straight line indicates that the normality assumption is satisfied whereas deviation from straight line indicates violation of normality assumption. But it does not give any idea about R2.
