Describe a problem you face in your everyday life or at work. How might you use hypothesis testing to find a solution or improvement to that problem? Would you conduct a one-sample or two-sample test? What would be your null and alternative hypotheses?
Let us consider a problem of Daily hours of sleep at Night. It is said that minimum 6 hours of sleep is necessary for a healthy lifestyle.
So I carry out the Hypothesis testing on myself to check if I get 6 hours of sleep daily.
I collect the data for say 100 days on sleep hours(you can take anything but atleast 30 to hold Normality assumption) . I calculate the sample mean from this.
Null Hypothesis-Equal to 6 hours of sleep
Alternative Hypothesis-Less than 6 hours of sleep. This is one sided test.
So I will use t test statistic to find sample test statistic.
Then I will find ciritical value or p value and compare it at 5 percent level of significance. If my absolute value of t statistic is greater than t critical then I will reject the Null and make decision accordingly
