I want to design a psychology research study in spss asseing
the impact of an independent variable (regular exercise over 8
weeks) on a dependent variable (depression). impact on depression
measured as change in scores on the widely accepted BDI-II
depression diagnostics test. Measuring points at start and end of
the 8 weeks.
For this my understanding is that the repeated measures t-test
is right.
I want to also compare the results of this group receiving
treatment with a control group (no activity). I intend to measure
in the same way as experimental group (i.e ta repeated measures
test).
The final step would be to compare the results for these two
groups. This will give my study higher credibility as I have a
control group to benchmark against.
is my thinking correct? and what atatistical test do i use for
the last teat to compare the experimental and control group? t-test
for independent groups or something else?
