A confidence level means that we are that much confident that the true value will lie between that interval.

Higher the confidence level, the more we will be sure that the true value will lie between that interval, hence the confidence will be wider.

Lower the confidence level, the less we will be sure that the true value will lie between that interval, hence the confidence will be narrower.

That is why 99% confidence interval will be wider as compared to the 95% confidence interval.
