Three cards are randomly drawn from a standard deck of 52 cards. What is the probability of getting at least two kings? (round to 3 decimals)

Answer #1

We have to consider two cases:

2 Kings in three cards

No. of ways of selecting three cards such that 2 are Kings = 4C2*48C1

No. of ways of selecting three cards such that 2 are Kings = 288

3 Kings in three cards

No. of ways of selecting three cards such that 3 are Kings = 4C3*48C0

No. of ways of selecting three cards such that 3 are Kings = 4

Total no. of ways of selecting 3 cards from deck of 52 = 52C3 = 22100

P(at least two kings) = (288+4)/22100 = 292/22100

P(at least two kings) = 0.013
