0.15

Homework Answers

Answer #1

We are given the values of x,   -5, -4, 2, 4, 6

X P(X =x)
-5 ?
-4 ?
2 0.22
4 0.27
6 0.15

We need to find P(X = -5) and P(X = -4)

Suppose, P(X = -5) = P(X = -4) = a

P(X = -5) + P(X = -4) + P(X = 2) + P(X =4) + P(X =6) = 1

a + a + 0.22 +0.27 0.15 = 1

2a + 0.64 = 1

2a = 1 - 0.64

2a = 0.36

a = 0.18

That is, P(X = -5) = 0.18

And P(X = -4) = 0.18

Hence, the table should be as follows:

X P(X =x)
-5 0.18
-4 0.18
2 0.22
4 0.27
6 0.15
