With regard to accepting or rejecting the null....I have two
approaches
1) comparing critical to test
2) comparing p-value to alpha
How would each compare when accepting the null? rejecting the
null?
Will each approach always agree with the other?
1)
If modulus of critical value is greater than modulus of test statistic, then we reject null hypothesis and if modulus of critical value is less than modulus of test statistic, then we fail to reject null hypothesis.
2)
If p-value is less than the significance level then we reject null hypothesis and if p-value is greater than the significance level, we fail to reject null hypothesis.
