In a 2 x 2 x 3 design with 120 participants equally distributed across the conditions.

How many participants are in each cell ( show how you get this calculation)?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

A within subject design is where the same set of participants are exposed to esch condition in the experiment.

So in a 2×2×3 factorial design, there are 12 test conditions, had it been between subject design, each of these 12 conditions would require a different set of 10 subjects like around 120 participants

However for a within subject design, the same 10 participants will be present in all the conditions, so the total number of participants required will be just 10.

#10   participants are in each cell

The future-alone participants made fewer cooperative moves than did participants in other conditions, F(2, 28) = 5.87, p < .01. Tukey’s HSD tests showed that the future-alone condition was significantly different from the other two conditions at p < .05 and that the future-belonging and no-feedback-control conditions were not significantly different from each other. Comparing the future-alone group with the other two groups yielded d = 1.31, a large effect. These results suggest that socially excluded individuals are still less...

A new design for the braking system on a certain type of car has been proposed. For the current system, the true average braking distance at 40 mph under specified conditions is known to be 120 ft. It is proposed that the new design be implemented only if sample data strongly indicates a reduction in true average braking distance for the new design. (a) Define the parameter of interest. μ = true average braking distance for the old design p̂...
