The study shows the weight difference of two different samples i.e. weight of adults working at desk and weight of adults not working at desk. Therefore the hypothesis for study is not abiua gaining weight. It is the difference in the weight of two different samples.In this case it might be wrong to conclude desk job causes gain in weight. Since all day works at desk can casue to gain weight.

Alternative correct conclusion is ,

Adults working at desk job all day have the more weight than the adults who do not work all day at desk.
