6) The Lola cereal company claims that the average weight of a cereal box is at least 650 grams. Gordon has calculated the average weight of a sample of 25 boxes of cereal to be 620 grams with the standard deviation of 20 grams. Is this providing enough evidence that the average box of cereal is at least 650 grams? Test this hypothesis at 0.1 significance level.

Answer #1

GIVEN THAT :-

According to the queston we have that:-

weight of a cereal box is at least 650 grams

Gordon has calculated the average weight of a sample of 25 boxes of cereal to be 620 grams

the standard deviation of 20 grams.

TO FIND :-

the test hypothesis;-

The hypothesis being tested is:

H0: µ 650

Ha: µ < 650

finding the test statistic

so the formula forq finding the test statistic is

t = (x - µ)/s/√n

substituting the values we get that

t = (620 - 650)/20/√25

t = -7.5

The p-value is 0.0000.

the p value< the siginificane level

0.0000<0.10

we can reject the null hypothesis.

, we cannot conclude that µ 650.
