An investigator is conducting a hypothesis test. If the hypotheses considered are:
H0: The average battery life of a cell phone from a certain company is 45 hours.
Ha: The average battery life of cell phones of a certain company is less than 45 hours.
Knowing that from a sample of 36 of these phones, the average battery life time was 44 hrs. And complying with the appropriate steps to carry out the hypothesis test, the decision reached by the researcher with a significance level of 5%, was to reject the Null hypothesis. What is the conclusion for the hypothesis test?

Select one:
a. With 95% confidence, there is evidence to say that the average battery life of cell phones of that company is less than 45 hours.
b. With 95% confidence, there is evidence to say that the battery life of the cell phones of that company is 45 hours.
c. With 95% confidence, a cell phone from that company will last less than 45 hours.
d. With 95% confidence, a cell phone from that company will last 44 hours.
e. Because the sample average battery life was 44 hours, then the battery life of that company's cell phones is less than 45 hours.

Answer #1

As we can see that the hypothesis are stated

Ho- The average battery life of cell phone from a certain company is 45hours.

Ha - The average battery life of cell phone of a certain company is less than 45 hours.

Now when a researcher did an experiment with 36 samples of phones , the average battery life comes out to 44 and then with some steps he rejected the null hypothesis with 5 % significant level. It means that the alternative hypothesis ( Ha) is accepted.

So clearly we can say that with 95% confidence, there is evidence to say that average battery life of cell phones of that company is less than 45 hours.

So option a.
