Descriptive statistics can be used in Health Service research situation. Let us consider there are two drugs in a market for same disease A & B. The company who produce drug A & B claim their drug is better than other. A researcher wants to test this hypothesis. For this, he collects data of says n1 patients who take drug A & n2 patients different from n1 who takes the drug B. Thus, the researcher has now 2 different samples. To test this hypothesis, he can use t-test or z-test which depend upon sample size. Suppose sample size is greater than 30. So, he uses Z-test,

Now, he will find Mean, Standard deviation of both samples for calculating Z-test. This Mean, the standard deviation is descriptive statistics.
