What would be the difference in your experimental design if you elected to use a dependent samples t test instead of an independent samples t test (how would your sample and testing be affected)?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Solution: Dependent samples t-test is one when the samples of our experimental design are related. While in the independent samples t-test the samples of our experimental design are independent. The dependent samples t-test can have a single group of individuals measured over two different situations or it can have two different matched pairs measured over two different situations. The testing for dependent samples t-test is carried out by finding the average of the differences between the two groups, while in independent samples t-test, the difference between two means is studied. Also, the degrees of freedom for the dependent samples t-test is , while the degrees of freedom for the independent samples t-test
